BLA Scholarship Programme

BLA Scholarship Fund

Dalia and James Watt, Director, BLA Scholarship Fund, celebrating the graduation of 2020 scholars, Zeina El-Sayed, Christelle Menassa and Sara Abdel Latif.

Dalia was a co-founder of the BLA Scholarship Fund. As the civil war in Lebanon had officially ended, it was believed that education would play a primary role in the country’s reconstruction. So far, the Scholarship Fund has assisted hundreds of students. It is hoped that these new leaders in their field of expertise will return to Lebanon and play an important role in the country’s continuing regeneration

Dalia and the BLA are extremely proud of the students who not only exceed academically at top UK universities but are highly dedicated to the betterment of their home country.

The British Lebanese Association (BLA) was established in 1984 to encourage friendship and understanding between the people of Great Britain and Lebanon and to advance and encourage cultural development between the two countries. The BLA Scholarship Fund, established in 1995, is the Association’s highest profile charitable project and has supported many young Lebanese to pursue postgraduate studies in the UK and take advantage of an opportunity to acquire skills and experiences not available in Lebanon. The scholarships are intended for those normally unable to afford a full time Masters course in the UK and scholars with the declared intention of returning to the Lebanon to use their additional qualification to the country’s benefit are given priority.
